Ses grands-parents originaires de la communauté abénakise d’Odanak, arrivent à Mashteuiatsh au milieu des années 1800 pour défricher la terre. Paul-Émile accompagne son père et commence à travailler dans les chantiers. Plus tard, il se procure une licence de taxi et en fait son gagne-pain durant une bonne partie de sa vie. Il offre son service de transport entre Pointe-Bleue et Roberval, ainsi qu’entre Roberval et le Lac Bouchette. Il possède également un snowmobile pour les transports hivernaux. Au taxi, s’ajoute un autobus pour le transport scolaire dans la communauté.
PAUL-ÉMILE GILL (1905 – 1992)
His grandparents were from the Abenaki community of Odanak. They came to Mashteuiatsh in the mid-1800s to farm. Paul-Émile began working with his father in logging camps and later obtained a taxi licence, providing service between Pointe-Bleue and Roberval and between Roberval and Lac Bouchette. This was his main occupation for much of his life. He also had a snowmobile for winter transportation and a bus for school transportation in the community.
