LAURETTE NEPTON (1911 – 2003)

Laurette Nepton was born in Mashteuiatsh. Her grandparents were Abenaki and lived in St-Urbain before moving to Lac Saint-Jean. Her father spent most of his time in the forest while her mother worked on the farm. The children helped with farm work from an early age. In winter, it was Laurette who did the manual work while her father was absent. Later, she had a team of horses and provided transportation for people who wished to go into town.
